Asked about his Nationwide plans next year during an ESPN chat, #60-Carl Edwards, said “No, I do not plan on running Nationwide full time. I will focus on the Sprint Cup and my family. But I truly love the Nationwide Series. It will be a big change for me.”(7-18-2011)
UPDATE: Edwards will still run a partial Nationwide schedule, but he said Friday afternoon at Pocono that he wants more time to focus on his Cup car and work with crew chief Bob Osborne. Exactly how many Nationwide races Edwards will run next season remains to be determined. He had competed in 210 consecutive races until skipping the Road America event in June. The 2007 series champion, Edwards has 34 Nationwide victories. He does not have a contract yet to run Nationwide events for Roush Fenway Racing as his Cup contract was just signed this past week. “We haven’t even talked about the Nationwide plans other than I am going to run less races,” Edwards said. “I don’t know how many I’m going to run. There are some I really love running. I will run Watkins Glen almost certainly. There’s a huge benefit to the Cup Series. (Scene Daily)(8-6-2011)
