Eight Bradley University [Peoria, IL] sports communication students will have the unique opportunity for a weekend internship at a NASCAR Sprint Cup race in the Chicago area. The students will assist the #37 Sprint Cup team with promotions and public relations. The #37 Bradley University Sprint Cup Ford Fusion will be wrapped in the University’s markings and the BU Braves logo during the Sprint Car event. The white Bradley #37 Ford, covered in red University markings, will be driven by Josh Wise at the Geico 400 this weekend at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet. Wise will attempt to qualify on Saturday for the Sunday race; his teammate in the NASCAR Nationwide Series is Danica Patrick. “This is another wonderful example of hands-on experiential learning opportunities available to Bradley students,” President Joanne Glasser said. “I want to thank Max Q Motorsports and NASCAR for allowing our students to bring what they learn in the classroom onto the race track.” The #37 Bradley University Sprint Cup Ford Fusion show car, an authentic race car, will be displayed at Olin Quad on the Bradley campus on Thursday, September 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bradley sports communication students will be available to explain details of the #37 race car and their involvement in the Geico 400. “We welcome Bradley University students to Chicagoland to experience firsthand the excitement of NASCAR Sprint Cup racing and to learn more about career opportunities in our sport,” said Max Q Motorsports Owner Larry Gunselman. Gunselman has donated the primary sponsorship of the race car for the Geico 400 to Bradley University. Bradley is a private, independent university in Peoria, Illinois, offering 6,000 students the choice of more than 100 academic programs.
