Edwards joins First Lady in Let’s Move initiative in Iowa:

Michelle Obama challenged Iowa children Thursday to think of new ways to get their friends involved in fitness and health. Obama sited programs at several Iowa schools that are working to get kids fit, including a West Des Moines school that has used technology to track its 33,000 miles of walking. She then helped lead a dance that included the entire audience to get moving. Thousands of students, several well-known athletes and a number of politicians joined Obama for the event at Wells Fargo Arena Thursday. Besides the first lady, participants at the event include Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, gymnast Shawn Johnson, figure skater Michelle Kwan, NASCAR’s #99-Carl Edwards, health and fitness expert Bob Harper and ISU basketball head coach Fred Hoiberg. About 10,000 children, grades 6 to 9, were bused to the event from 45 schools in the Des Moines area.(see a video at kcci.com)(2-9-2012)
