If you ‘ve ever wanted to see the inside of a race shop, with personal tours by members of the race team, now’s your chance. Ken Schrader Racing, Inc. is hosting a car show at the shop from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Specialty cars on display will include a 1940 Ford Coupe, a 1964 Amphicar, 1955 Ford Wrecker that was Schrader’s dad’s, race cars and trucks from Schrader’s NASCAR career, a 1957 VW Baja, 1955 Ford custom-built Cabover and more. Instead of registration fees, participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items for Cooperative Christian Ministry. Spectators are also encouraged to bring food items. In addition to cool cars, there will be music, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and food for sale.
‘Times are tough for our community and we need to make sure that the pantry at Cooperative Christian Ministry is well-stocked for the holiday season,’ says Ann Schrader. In addition, the team supports the Bank of North Carolina’s ‘Food Vault’ and will add to that as well. ‘We welcome car lovers from our area and folks who are looking for a Saturday morning family activity to join us at Schrader Racing. We urge everyone to bring non-perishable food for CCM.’
‘CCM will open its 10th pantry this year to help serve the continuing need for food to help struggling families,’ says Ed Hosack, executive director of CCM. When families receive food from one of the CCM pantries, they can use the money saved in other areas of their budget. ‘Support from businesses like Ken Schrader Racing and our partners at Bank of North Carolina will help many families offset the high heating costs of the winter months.’
Registration deadline on the day of the show is 10:30 a.m. The awards ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will include awards for best of show, runner-up, best paint, top 10, charity’s choice and kid’s choice. Trophies are sponsored by the Bank of North Carolina. Ken Schrader Racing is located at 4403 Stough Road, Concord.
