AJ Allmendinger will drive for JTG Daugherty next week at Kentucky Speedway, car owner Tad Geschickter told Motor Racing Network on Saturday. It will be the second of five races Allmendinger is scheduled to drive the #47 car in place of Bobby Labonte, as JTG Daugherty seeks to uncover what has caused its struggles this season. Labonte is driving the car at Sonoma and starts 20th in Sundays race. Allmendinger drove for the team last week at Michigan, finishing 19th – the teams best result since Richmond in late April. Allmendinger also is scheduled to drive for the team at Watkins Glen. The other two races hes scheduled to run with JTG have not been determined. Geschickter said that Labonte will drive for the team in all three NASCAR Sprint Cup races in July: Daytona, New Hampshire and Indianapolis.( MRN )(6-23-2013) UPDATE: Bobby Labonte is still uncertain of his plans for next weekends race at Kentucky Speedway. ‘As of today, Im not sure yet about Kentucky’ Labonte said. ‘Im trying to work on some things.” Although Labonte tested with the #47 JTG/Daugherty team on the 1.5-mile track earlier this month, team owner Tad Geschickter says ‘mechanical problems at Michigan” have forced the organization to move up its second of a five-race schedule with AJ Allmendinger. ‘Some of what we were trying to read at Michigan wasnt accurate’ Geschickter said. ‘We had a sensor go bad, a right rear hub go bad, so we want to get that extra reading at a high speed, low grip track like Kentucky so we know what direction to go in. Then (Allmendingers) next race will be Watkins Glen and Bobby will get back in after Kentucky. Labonte is scheduled to drive at Daytona where he finished a season-high 15th in February followed by New Hampshire and Indianapolis. As of Sundays green flag at Sonoma, Labonte has a consecutive race starting streak of 704 , second only to Jeff Gordons 705 straight races. Although Labonte piloted the #51 Chevy last weekend at Michigan to a 43rd-place finish, Austin Dillon is currently scheduled to drive that car.( Fox Sports )
