Alex Bowman won the 21 Means 21 Pole Award for the 9th Annual OReilly Auto Parts Challenge with a lap of 29.002 seconds, 186.194 mph. This is his second pole in 35 NASCAR Nationwide Series races. This is his second pole and 13th top-10 start in 2013. He also won the pole for the spring Texas race. This is his second pole in two races at Texas Motor Speedway. Brad Keselowski (second) posted his 10th top-10 start of 2013 and his seventh in 14 races at Texas Motor Speedway. Sam Hornish Jr. (third) posted his third top-10 start at Texas Motor Speedway.
