Ty Dillon, driver of the #3 Bass Pro Shops/WESCO/Yuengling Light Lager Chevy Camaro in the Nationwide Series, is scheduled to take flight with the historic United States Air Force Thunderbird team in a F-16 Fighter Jet on Feb. 18 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Dillon, who will be competing full time in the Nationwide Series this year, was invited by the U.S. Air Force after his brother, Austin Dillon, took flight last February. The Thunderbirds are scheduled to depart from Daytona Beach International Airport for a short flight around the Daytona Beach area. The Thunderbirds, officially known as the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, perform approximately 40 maneuvers in a demonstration. The highly-maneuverable, multi-role fighter jets, known as the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcons, typically perform 80 air demonstrations per year. The jets are equipped with GoPro cameras to capture in-flight moments.(RCR)(1-30-2014)
