#2-Brad Keselowski won the pole for the Profit on CNBC 500(k) Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway with speed of 139.384mph (a new track record) for his 1st pole of 2014, 1st at Phoenix and 4th of his career.
Penske teammate #22-Logano is on the outside pole. #1-McMurray, #48-Johnson, #88-Earnhardt Jr, #16-Biffle, #42-Larson, #18-Busch, #43-Almirola, #41-Busch, #5-Kahne and #11-Hamlin round out the top 12. Those 12 drivers had the fastest speeds during the opening 30 minute group qualifying session and moved on to the final 10 minute session. #22-Logano had the fastest speed during the first session. The new qualifying format this season will use two qualifying sessions on tracks less than 1.25 miles.
#51-Justin Allgaier crashed just 2 minutes into the opening session. He backed the car into the turn 4 wall. The team will have to go to a backup.
Missing the race were: #98-Josh Wise, #40-Landon Cassill and #77-Dave Blaney.
