Neuenberger to return to the track with students:

NASCAR Nationwide part-timer Donnie Neuenberger has announced his intent to race at The Texas Mile on March 21-23. The Texas Mile is the nation’s fastest standing mile land speed event. Neuenberger’s team is a little different than a lot of the other professional racing teams out there. His crew chief, car chief, and entire crew is made of students from Chavez High School. Donnie partnered with the school in 2013 and raced their Pontiac GTO to a top speed of 175.5 mph. All students in the program are part of the engineering program at Chavez High School. he select group of students spend their afternoons and weekends learning about aerodynamics, super chargers, and fabricating all of their own custom parts. This program is also very meaningful for the driver as he was an engineering student at The University of Maryland before entering professional racing. Donnie Neuenberger last appeared in NASCAR Nationwide competition at the September 2013 Dover event driving the #23 Cancun Cantina Ford for Rick Ware Racing. Last year a record was set by a Ford GT at The Texas Mile with a top speed of 278.8 mph.(Chavez Motorsports)
