Nearly 500 people gathered in the Dominion building at the Richmond International Raceway complex Monday to celebrate the life of W.C. ‘Junie’ Donlavey Jr., iconic NASCAR car owner who died June 9 at the age of 90. Racing historian and radio personality Joe Kelly served as the host. Family, fans, former crew members and former drivers were among those on hand. Ricky Rudd, one of the 60 drivers who drove Donlavey’s #90 Ford in NASCAR’s Cup series, was among those who recalled Donlavey’s genial good humor ‘ even after Rudd had hit the wall at Darlington Raceway and spoiled the steering in a car that was leading the race.(Richmond Times Dispatch)(6-17-2014)
