Michael Waltrip reunites with sponsor Maxwell House this weekend when the two-time Daytona 500 champion climbs behind the wheel of the #98 Maxwell House Toyota at Talladega Superspeedway. Waltrip drove a Maxwell House branded car in 1990 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition. Waltrip, whose #98 Toyota is supported by Michael Waltrip Racing mechanics and crew, won at Talladega in 2003 and all four of his career victories came on restrictor plate tracks. He nearly won this race in 2012, but a last-lap accident took him out of contention. Waltrip has a busy week before arriving at the Alabama track. He and his brother Darrell will host the sixth annual Waltrip Brother’s Charity Championship auction, dinner and golf tournament Wednesday and Thursday in Nashville. The event has raised more than $1.4 million dollars for several non-profit organizations including Motor Racing Outreach, Feed the Children and the (Steve) Byrnes Memorial Fund. Headlining this year’s dinner is two-time Grammy Award winning musician Travis Tritt.(Michael Waltrip Racing), see an image of the car on the #98 team paint schemes page.(10-21-2015)
