Kansas Goodyear Tire Notes:

NASCAR Sprint Cup teams will run a completely different tire set-up than those in the Camping World Truck Series at Kansas this week . . . this is the first time Sprint Cup teams have run either of these two tire codes . . . compared to what was run at Kansas last year, the tires on both sides feature a construction change to bring Kansas in line with other speedways . . . this left-side tire code (D-4656) features a compound change to give the cars more grip . . . this right-side tire code (D-4662) is one of Goodyear’s multi-zone tread tires, with two different compounds on the same tire ‘” the compound on the inboard two inches (Endurance Zone) being the same as the full tread run at Kansas last year, and the compound on the outboard 10 inches (Traction Zone) being more tractive to give more grip . . . this tire combination came out of a Goodyear test at Kansas last September 14-15 . . . drivers participating in that test were Aric Almirola, Jimmie Johnson, Martin Truex Jr. and J.J. Yeley . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Kansas . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.(Goodyear), see more nots, tire codes, set limits and more on the Kansas Race Info page.
