Elliott Sadler’s inaugural season as driver of JR Motorsports’ #1 OneMain Financial Chevrolet was perhaps the best of his career. The fans noticed, too, voting the 41-year-old Virginia native the NASCAR Xfinity Series Most Popular Driver for 2016. Sadler accepted the award Monday night during the NASCAR Xfinity Series Awards Banquet at the Loews South Beach Hotel. ‘It’s an honor to be voted the 2016 NXS Most Popular Driver,’ Sadler said. ‘This award is for the fans to give, so it’s humbling that they all took the time to vote for me. I really couldn’t ask for a better fan base, and for them to give me the honor twice in my career is incredible. This is a great week to be thankful for everything in my life and I especially want to thank everyone that voted, without our loyal fans this sport would not be what it is today.’ Sadler, who finished second in the championship point standings, earned his second MPD nod in fan voting for the award, and pushed JRM’s streak in the category to five straight.(JR Motorsports)(11-21-2016)
