Danica Patrick still working on Daytona, Indy 500 ride

As the 60th running of the Daytona 500 is fast approaching, Danica Patrick is still searching for a ride in “The Great American Race” and the Indianapolis 500. Patrick, 35, joined SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s “The Morning Drive” on Thursday to discuss how those plans are unfolding.

Patrick was open to running both races with the same organization. The only two NASCAR owners that also field teams in INDYCAR are Roger Penske and Chip Ganassi. Penske quickly denied at Homestead that Patrick would join his organization for both races. However, Ganassi mentioned that he was in talks with Patrick about running both events.

In December at the Performance Racing Industry Show in Indianapolis, Ganassi confirmed that the talks with Patrick have subsided.

Patrick told SiriusXM that the process is taking longer than expected.

“I thought it was going to be a quicker process, but you can’t rush things,” Patrick said. “I’m a big believer more and more all the time of letting things flow and just letting things take shape in the way that they would. And that’s kind of why I ended where I ended with finishing up my full-time career last year and doing the Daytona 500 and the Indy 500 for this year. I didn’t push anything, I just let things flow and it’s turned out to be just perfect.”
