Logano to visit White House Tuesday UPDATE:

Joey Logano and Team Penske officials and crew are planning to visit the White House on Tuesday to commemorate his 2018 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup title. Jeremy Troiano, a spokesman for Team Penske, wrote in an email of Logano’s visit, “Joey and the No. 22 team are honored to one of the many sports champions to be invited to the White House, and we are excited for all of our team members to get a chance to experience it.” Trump has heavy support from NASCAR officials, drivers and its conservative fan base — he pondered building a speedway near New York two decades ago.(Forbes)(4-28-2019)
UPDATE: A champion NASCAR driver gave President Donald Trump a racing helmet and a trophy on Tuesday; the president responded by giving him and his team a tour of the Lincoln Bedroom. “I’ll give you a personal tour – it is special, and you are special,” Trump told 2018 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano and racing team owner Roger Penske during an increasingly rare event at the White House: honoring a sports champion. Paying tribute to NASCAR itself, Trump said the sport embodies the American spirit. “Never forget what matters most,” he said. “God, family and country.” Logano and Penske responded by thanking Trump. They also paid tribute to the military and law enforcement in general for protecting the nation so that people can live their lives the way they want to. “We get to do that because we live in an amazing country,” Logano said.”I still can’t get over my car sitting here in front of the White House.”(USA Today)(4-30-2019)
