With less than half the 2019 Xfinity Series schedule remaining and postseason racing right around the corner, defending champion Tyler Reddick doesn’t know where he’ll be calling home next year – or even what division he’ll be competing in.
He’d like to show what he’s capable of racing on Sundays, but nothing is slated for the time being – for another one-off start this season or for a potential full-time gig next.
“We’re working hard on the next Cup race, just as of right now it’s up in the air,” Reddick said. “We’ve just got to make it all fit together and when it does obviously we’ll let everybody know. … Trying to piece (next year) together, too. We’ll see what happens. A lot of year left, actually, but it’s that time of year when the questions start getting asked so we’ll just try to keep running the best that we can and it’s going to happen or it won’t. We’ll see what happens.
“(My contract is) just this year right now and I think there’s options here and there and whatnot, but I don’t want to get into those details,” Reddick added. “We’re working hard. We want to win the championship on the Xfinity side and there’s a lot of other distractions out there and you want to be interested in the potential of this or that and what can we piece together, right now it’s just trying to get the next Cup race going. That other stuff will work out. You just run the best you can and hopefully the right people come along to make something possible on the Cup side.”
