This Veterans Day weekend, Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is sponsoring NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Noah Gragson during the Desert Diamond West Valley Casino 200 race at ISM Raceway in Phoenix, Ariz.
Gragson’s scheme on the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro owned by JR Motorsports will feature a specialty paint scheme as a tribute to the F-35 as well as a special message to veterans: Honoring All Who Served.
The veteran community has a special place in Gragson’s heart, as he credits military veteran mentors for shaping who he is today. He recently toured Lockheed Martin’s F-35 factory in Fort Worth, Texas and met with veterans who build the F-35. Military veterans make up 21 percent of Lockheed Martin’s overall workforce.
Lockheed Martin supports military missions every day and sponsoring Gragson’s car is one way for the company to recognize veterans’ service and say, ‘thank you.’
As part of its support, Lockheed Martin is also sending five veterans from the Student Veterans of America (SVA) organization to the Phoenix race with VIP access and awarding a check for $205,000 to SVA to help expand veteran career services.
Lockheed Martin values the contributions, leadership, teamwork and skills that its veteran employees bring to the team. A Lockheed Martin Heroes umbrella program houses several initiatives aimed at hiring and supporting veterans in the workplace. This group includes: Veterans Employment Advisory Council (VEAC), Military Spouse Employment Advisory Council (MSEAC) and their Corporate Fellowship Advisory Council (CFAC).
To date, Lockheed Martin has hired more than 31,000 veterans and have assisted in helping military spouses obtain employment.
