Three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Darrell Waltrip was presented Thursday with the 2019 NMPA Myers Brothers Award for outstanding contributions to the sport of stock-car racing.
Waltrip spent 29 years overall in NASCAR’s premier league, notching 84 wins in 809 starts, and was elected to the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s Class of 2012. After retiring, he joined FOX Sports in 2001, when the network became an official broadcast partner. This past season was his last in the booth, his final race being the summer event at Sonoma Raceway.
