Sports Business Journal reports that several NASCAR tracks are expected to get single year deals for the next several years.
NASCAR is currently in the final year of a five year agreement with the 23 tracks that host a Cup race. At the time of the agreement, the intention was to give race fans and stakeholders in the sport some long-term consistency with the Cup schedule.
Now NASCAR is looking to one year agreements so that they can be more flexible with scheduling from year to year, giving the series some ability to travel to new locations or run races during the week.
Several @NASCAR tracks are expected to get only single-year deals for the next handful of years, per sources, in a bid by the sanctioning body to keep its scheduling options wide open.
