Austin Cindric, Carquest Honoring Military in Xfinity Race at Charlotte

Carquest Auto Parts, the automotive parts retailer owned by Advance Auto Parts, Team Penske and reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) champion Austin Cindric will honor fallen heroes from the United States military at the NXS race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 29.

Thirty fallen military heroes will be featured on the back of Cindric’s No. 22 Carquest Ford Mustang during the race weekend. Each of the service men and women incorporated into the design on Cindric’s car are part of the Carquest family’s network of independent owners. Additionally, Carquest invites fans to engage with Austin Cindric on Twitter (@AustinCindric) leading into Memorial Day weekend. For every retweet of Austin’s post on Tuesday, May 25, Carquest will donate 22 cents (up to $10,000) to Building Homes for Heroes, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to building or modifying homes and providing them mortgage free to veterans and their families. Carquest will donate for every retweet through Memorial Day on Monday, May 31.

“We are honored to partner with Team Penske to recognize military heroes who mean so much to our Carquest family,” said Junior Word, division president, Carquest North America. “On behalf of the Carquest brand and our family of independent owners, we express our deepest gratitude to all who have served and continue to serve in the U.S. military. Our Carquest team looks forward to Austin having a great race in Charlotte on this important
weekend of reflection.”

“There’s a lot of pride in racing the red, white and blue colors on Memorial Day weekend,” said Cindric. “I love what the Carquest team is doing and how they’re supporting our military through fan involvement. It’s a true privilege to carry the names of these fallen heroes on our No. 22 Carquest Ford this weekend, and I am more motivated than ever to race and hopefully win as we honor the legacy of our soldiers and their families.”

Cindric will compete in the Alsco Uniforms 300 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 29 (1 p.m. ET on FS1).

Since 2011, Advance and Carquest have supported Building Homes for Heroes and their mission to improve the lives of veterans and their family members. Advance, Carquest and their supplier partners have contributed more than $13 million to Building Homes for Heroes, which has built or modified nearly 300 homes to date since their inception in 2006.
