Oddsmakers continue to back the reigning NASCAR Cup champion. Larson was the favorite to win the WISE Power 400, and that’s exactly what he did. Now oddsmakers are backing him to win a second straight race.
Larson is given +500 odds, or an implied 16.7% chance to win the Pennzoil 400. Larson won the Pennzoil 400 last year, so it shouldn’t come as a big surprise. His biggest challengers are Joey Logano and Chase Elliott, oddsmakers give the two veteran drivers +750 odds, or an implied 11.8% chance to win the race.
The current Cup leader, rookie Austin Cindric, is given +3000 or an implied 3.2% chance to his second race.
Quote from OddsChecker spokesman Kyle Newman, “Oddsmakers are predicting Larson will win back to back races, something he did twice last year, he actually won 3 in a row twice. Only one other racer won back to back races last season, Ryan Blaney. So, it’s interesting that oddsmakers are so behind Larson. Of course, all eyes will also be on star rookie Austin Cindric. Oddsmakers don’t love him yet, but he’s started his rookie season exactly how he envisioned.”
