This weekend’s favorite is one of the more confusing ones this season. Oddsmakers are backing Kyle Larson to take home the victory.
Larson is given +550 odds, or an implied 15.4% chance to win the Food City Dirt Race despite finishing 29th last year. It doesn’t help that Larson has had a rough start to the season and is currently sitting 13th in the Drivers’ Championship standings.
Oddsmakers believe Christopher Bell and Joey Logano are the only racers who can push Larson in this race. Bell and Logano are both given +800 odds, or an implied 11.1% chance to take home the victory. No other drivers are given better than +1000 odds.
Quote from OddsChecker spokesman Kyle Newman, “Oddsmakers faith in Kyle Larson hasn’t gone anywhere despite his poor start to the season. This is now the 5th time this year he’s been the favorite to win a race. He only has 3 finishes in the top-15. Meanwhile, the red hot William Byron who has two wins and a 3rd place in his last four races is given +1200 odds, or a 7.7% chance to win. Larson being the favorite here is without a doubt the most confusing decision by oddsmakers so far this season.”
