Brian Weber attempting to make first Xfinity start since 2003 at Phoenix with MBM

Veteran driver and entrepreneur Brian Weber will attempt to qualify for his first NASCAR national series start in eleven years this weekend, driving the #66 Last Option Bed Ford Mustang in the United Rentals 200 at Phoenix Raceway.

The Long Island, New York-native has raced in many different eras of NASCAR. He made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in 1988, then added 19 more starts in the early 2000s, largely as an owner-driver. In 2010, Weber co-owned the Daisy Ramirez Motorsports truck team for which MBM team owner Carl Long drove in several races. Now, the roles have reversed. Weber will climb back behind the wheel of a NASCAR stock car in the twilight of his driving career, as he plans to retire from regular racing competition at the end of 2023.

“I am truly grateful to Carl and DeeDee for this opportunity. I mentioned to Carl a few weeks back my helmet was being put away at the end of the year, and yet, here we are!” exclaimed Weber.

Covering the hood and quarterpanels of the #66 entry will be Weber’s newest business venture, Last Option Bed, which he formed only weeks before this driving opportunity arose. Last Option Bed is a purpose-built inflatable Air Bed™, specifically designed to target the needs of airline travelers and eliminate nights spent on a cold and hard airport floor. The Air Bed™ is TSA- and airline-friendly.

Weber, 56, is expected to be the oldest racer competing in the Xfinity Series at Phoenix Raceway. His driving skills have been kept sharp competing in the Southern Modified Auto Racing Tour (S.M.A.R.T.) and Carolina Crate Modified Series in the last several seasons. He also enters Phoenix with track-specific experience, having raced at this facility twice in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and achieved a Top 25 finish. Weber reflected:

“I have had 40 years of memories in this sport, from my Busch North days to racing my first Xfinity race in 1988 with some of the greatest drivers ever. I am excited to have these events close this chapter of my life my way with God’s blessings and grace.”

All NASCAR Xfinity Series on-track action at Phoenix Raceway takes place on Saturday, March 11th. Practice and qualifying begin at 9:30 am MST (11:30 am EST). The 200 mile race is scheduled for Saturday, March 11th at 2:30 pm MST (4:30 pm EST) and will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1.
