John Thomas Lundy, 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He was born on January 3, 1941 in Georgetown, Kentucky, son of the late John Henry and Thelma (Greenup) Lundy. John was a retired Thoroughbred breeder and owner and NASCAR Team owner.
John is survived by two sons, Robert Lundy and Jonathan Lundy; his daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Charlie Baldwin; eight grandchildren, Nicholas (BJ) Baldwin, Tyler (Scott) Cowherd, Nash Baldwin, Tanner (Brooke-Ann) Baldwin, Tucker (Ryan) Bethay, Victoria (Mark) Plymale, Amelia (Andrew) Webber and Julian Lundy; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathy Lundy and Lynn Jones.
Graveside service will be Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at The Midway Cemetery, 431 West Stephens Street, Midway, Kentucky at 1pm. Keynote speaker will be Kenny Rice. Serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Baldwin, Nash Baldwin, Tanner Baldwin, Ryan Bethay, Scott Cowherd, Julian Lundy, Larry McGinnis and Mark Plymale. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlei Baldwin, Peter Blum, Peter Brant, Tim Delrose, A.J. Foyt Jr., Cary Hall, Tracy Hilander, Lynn Jones, Mike Leverton, Dennis Neclerio, Kenny Rise and Rick Trontz. There will be a reception at Holly Hill Inn, 426 North Winter Street, Midway, Kentucky following the graveside service.
IN MEMORIAM: Former NASCAR team co-owner JT Lundy has died at the age of 82.
Lundy was the co-owner of Ranier-Lundy Racing, which saw it's inception in 1967. Lundy left the team in 1987 after 22 of the team's 24 total NASCAR Cup Series wins.
