Garrett Smithley will attempt to qualify into Saturday’s Pennzoil 250 Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Alpha Prime Racing, the team announced on Monday.
Smithley had made 15 Xfinity starts this season, all coming under the JD Motorsports banner. This will be his first race under the umbrella of a different team since the spring race at Phoenix in 2023.
Smithley has made 173 career Xfinity starts, including four at IMS. He has a best finish of 14th in the series’ most recent visit to the 2.5-mile oval in 2019.
