NASCAR expected to return to Canada next year

After two years of discussions, setbacks and advances, it appears that the popular American auto racing series NASCAR will be back in Montreal in 2026, according to Le Journal de Quebec’s reliable sources. The cars of the Cup Series would then run in 2027 if the project is well crafted by the event organizers.

The Xfinity Series, formerly known as the Nationwide Series, would first race on the Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit in the summer of 2026 in addition to the Truck Series, according to our information.

You’ll recall that the Nationwide Series came to Montreal in its first stint from 2007 to 2012.

This return of stock-car racing to the Quebec metropolis in 2026 would serve as a sort of warm-up lap to welcoming NASCAR’s greatest stars a year later.
