Leland Honeyman Jr. to drive From The Ashes Toyota for Halmar Friesen Racing at Charlotte

Halmar Friesen Racing announced today that Leland Honeyman Jr. will drive the No. 62 From The Ashes Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday, May 22.

The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on FS1.

Honeyman will make his first start with the organization aboard the No. 62 entry as the team heads to the 1.5-mile oval for one of the marquee events on the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series schedule.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to work with a team that has such a strong reputation in the sport,” Honeyman said. “I’m grateful for the chance to get behind the wheel of the No. 62 and compete with a group that knows how to run up front.”

The opportunity comes after Honeyman spent time around the organization earlier this season learning the team dynamic and preparing for his debut with HFR.

“The people involved honestly made it feel like the right fit,” Honeyman said. “I’ve been going to some of the races this year and sitting on top of the box to get a feel for the team, the chemistry, and how everyone works together so I can be as dialed in as possible heading into Charlotte. Everyone’s motivated, competitive, and focused on getting results.”

Honeyman also pointed to the experience within the organization and leadership atop the pit box as key factors in the team’s ability to compete at a high level.

“I think it starts with the people,” Honeyman said. “Watching Jimmy call races on top of the box has been really impressive. There’s a lot of experience behind this team, strong equipment, and everyone understands what it takes to compete at a high level and run up front.”

“Leland’s put in the work to get comfortable with our group, and we’re looking forward to having him in the No. 62 at Charlotte,” said Stewart Friesen, driver of the Halmar No. 52 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. “He’s been engaged with the team and we’re excited to see him hit the track Friday night.”

“I’m really thankful for everyone who continues supporting me and believing in me throughout this journey,” Honeyman said. “I especially want to thank Stewart, Mr. Larsen, Jimmy, Jessica and all the guys and girls at the shop for giving me this opportunity and making me feel welcomed right away. You can tell how much hard work goes into this program every week, and I’m excited for everyone to see what we can accomplish together with HFR and the No. 62.”

Fans can watch the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series North Carolina Education Lottery 200 from Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
