During pre-race ceremonies for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR honored Kyle Busch following his passing earlier this week.
NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell addressed the crowd prior to the race and reflected on Busch’s impact on the sport during a tribute ceremony.
“No one ever feels fully prepared to speak at a moment like this,” O’Donnell said. “And I think we can all agree that this was Kyle Busch’s home. Every racetrack was Kyle Busch’s home.”
O’Donnell spoke about Busch’s competitiveness and his role within the garage area, while also acknowledging the Busch family and organizations connected to his career, including Richard Childress Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing.
Busch family members in attendance included his wife Samantha, children Brexton and Lennix, brother Kurt Busch, and parents Tom and Gaye Busch.
Following O’Donnell’s remarks, a moment of silence was observed and “Amazing Grace” was played at the speedway.
“Kyle Busch is NASCAR,” O’Donnell said during the tribute. “He was one of a kind, and there will never be another.”
