Charlotte penalties: Crew members in Cup, O’Reilly suspended for safety violations

NASCAR issued multiple safety violation penalties for wheel infractions over the weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Live Fast Motorsports crew members Ian Schulz and Deiontae Jones have been suspended for the next two Cup Series races through Michigan International Speedway on June 7, 2026. Katherine Legge has a wheel improperly installed during the Coca-Cola 600 that fell onto the track, violation  Sections 8.8.10.4.A&D: Tires and Wheels of the NASCAR rule book.

JR Motorsports’ No. 9 team, which won the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race had two missing lug nuts after the checkered flag, violations Sections 8.8.10.4a & 10.5.2.5g: Tires and Wheels; Safety Violations of the NASCAR rule book. Crew member Michael Roberts has been suspended from the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Pocono Raceway on June 13,2026. The No. 9 team was fined $5,000.
Note: Lug nut(s) not properly installed.

Industry member Evanna Howell has been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR for violating Behavioral Sections 4.4 A.
