Michigan International Speedway announced today a multi-year extension with FireKeepers Casino Hotel as the entitlement partner for the NASCAR Cup Series race, the FireKeepers Casino 400.
“Extending our partnership with an extraordinary company like FireKeepers Casino Hotel reflects the aligned values and vision we share between organizations,” said Joe Fowler, President of Michigan International Speedway. “We strive to provide the highest level of hospitality and entertainment look forward to doing so with a local partner in our backyard for years to come.”
FireKeepers Casino Hotel, which opened its doors on August 5, 2009, has consistently delivered award-winning service and matched it with a sparkling resort destination, ranked among the best regional casinos in the country. Continuing to uphold its Four Diamond ratings for its two-tower, 443 hotel rooms and Nibi, its signature restaurant, FireKeepers Casino Hotel features over 2,900 slot machines, over 60 table games, a popular live poker room, a tasty array of restaurants and a 2100 seat Event Center for premier concerts and shows.
“FireKeepers delivers rewarding experiences and exhilarating thrills every day,” stated Frank Tecumseh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for FireKeepers Casino Hotel. “We are proud to play a role in presenting amazing NASCAR action for years to come at Michigan International Speedway, where the speed and drama of our great race always creates a breathtaking finish.”
On Sunday, June 7th at 3:00 p.m. ET, the 11th rendition of the FireKeepers Casino 400 is set to kick into high gear. Last year’s winner – Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing – aims to win his fourth Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway and second in a row. Doing so would make him one of three drivers in Cup Series history to win in the Irish Hills four-or-more times, joining Kevin Harvick (five) and David Pearson (five). Hamlin will also do a public meet and greet with fans 21 years of age or older at FireKeepers Casino Hotel from 12:15 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.
However, three Michigan-natives will look to stop Hamlin and claim their very first FireKeepers Casino 400 titles. Brad Keselowski – the Rochester, MI native and driver of the No. 6 for RFK Racing – has won twice at MIS in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, but never at the Cup level. Meanwhile, Erik Jones and Carson Hocevar from Byron and Portage, MI, respectively, have a collective 15 starts at their home track, but no victories.
The June race weekend at Michigan International Speedway begins with the ARCA Menards Series Henry Ford Health 200 on Friday, June 5, followed by the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series DQS Solutions & Staffing 250 Powered by Precision Vehicle Logistics on Saturday, June 6. The NASCAR Cup Series will cap off the weekend’s action with the FireKeepers Casino 400 on Sunday, June 7.
