Jimmie Johnson ‘Drive for Heroes’ Golf Classic to benefit The American Legion

Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB owner Jimmie Johnson will return to his hometown of San Diego to host the inaugural Drive for Heroes Golf Classic, a one-day charitable event benefiting The American Legion.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Riverwalk Golf Club in San Diego, the site of the first annual golf tournament 20 years ago benefitting the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. The 18-hole scramble format will feature a shotgun start at 8 a.m., along with on-course activations, contests, food and beverage offerings, and opportunities for fans and participants to engage directly with Johnson.

“San Diego is home for me, and bringing an event like this back to the community means a lot,” Johnson said. “The Drive for Heroes Golf Classic is about coming together to support those who have served our country while creating a memorable experience for everyone involved. It’s going to be a fun time.”

Participants will enjoy a memorable day of golf alongside fellow guests while supporting The American Legion’s mission to serve veterans, military members, and their families. Jimmie Johnson will be on-site throughout the event, making appearances across the course, engaging with participants, and taking part in key moments of the day. The experience will also feature special guests, on-course games, prizes, and premium hospitality designed to reflect Johnson’s competitive spirit and appreciation for service members.

The Drive for Heroes Golf Classic is part of a broader effort across the NASCAR San Diego race weekend to recognize and support members of the military, aligning with NASCAR’s long-standing commitment to honoring those who serve.

Sponsorship opportunities and player registrations are currently available. Individual entries are priced at $1,500, with foursomes available for $5,500.

Proceeds from the event will benefit The American Legion, the nation’s largest veteran service organization, which is dedicated to supporting veterans, service members and their families.
