The Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setup for this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway pairs a familiar left-side tire with a new right-side tire designed specifically for the smooth, D-shaped superspeedway.
The left-side tire has already been raced at six other high-speed ovals this season, including last weekend at Nashville Superspeedway, while the new right-side tire features an updated construction designed specifically for Michigan’s high speeds and heavy loads.
“This weekend’s Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setup builds on the intermediate track package teams have already raced multiple times this season,” said Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear Director of Racing for the Americas. “Michigan is one of the fastest tracks on the NASCAR schedule, featuring a smooth surface and multiple racing grooves that allow drivers to run different lines. The high speeds place significant stress on the right-side tires, so we have brought a new right-side tire designed to withstand those loads while also increasing strategy options for teams.”
Teams in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will run a familiar tire setup this weekend. This is the same setup teams used last month at Texas Motor Speedway, along with the same left-side tire used at Nashville and Charlotte Motor Speedway in recent weeks. As is standard at tracks one mile and longer, the 15-inch tires will also feature inner liners.
Goodyear Racing Eagle tires are in action this weekend at the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway and in the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park.
