Chad Finchum will make his next NASCAR Cup Series start on Sunday, July 12 in the Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway, driving for Garage 66 with support from Carter’s Royal Dispos-All, GPC Poultry Supply & Hardware, Truan Equipment Rental, and 66Trailers.
This will be the Knoxville, Tennessee driver’s first premier series start at EchoPark, a track at which he raced to a Top 20 finish in this February’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series event.
Sunday will bring the first NASCAR Cup Series drafting track race since Talladega in April, when Chad had his spectacular charge to the front of the field in Stage 1 and led the first 8 laps of his NASCAR national touring series career.
“I’m excited to get back behind the wheel of the No. 66 this weekend at EchoPark Speedway,” said Finchum. “It will be my first time racing a Cup car there, which makes it even more special. Atlanta has been really good to me this year. We had a solid run in the O’Reilly race earlier this season and came home with a 17th place finish, so I feel like I learned a lot that I can carry over into this weekend. Hopefully we can build on that experience, keep the car up front, and put together another solid finish for everyone at Garage 66.”
Garage 66 co-owner Carl Long is delighted to bring so many returning partners back to the team for the next Cup drafting track race.
“I am looking forward to Atlanta,” said Long. “I think the wide-open 1.5-mile speedway will suit my driver Chad perfectly. We made a few adjustments from our setup here last year and are looking forward to a strong run.”
“The sponsors this week are all returning supporters,” continued Long. “Truan Equipment Rental and 66Trailers are both based in Knoxville, Tennessee. Carter’s Royal Dispos-All comes out of Toccoa, Georgia, and GPC Poultry Supply & Hardware is based in Carnesville, Georgia. Both of our Georgia partners were on the hood at Talladega a couple months ago. I used to drive for John Carter in Cup, and it’s really fun to have him be a part of our team. We hope we can bring some of that Talladega magic back for Chad again this weekend!”
