NASCAR is bringing back its high-octane excitement to the heart of downtown Des Moines with NASCAR’s Iowa Fan Fest on Thursday, August 6. This free community celebration will be held from 4-7:30 p.m. at Cowles Commons, 221 Walnut St, Des Moines, IA 50309.
Fans of all ages are invited to enjoy an evening packed with racing-themed fun, local flavor, and exclusive experiences, including NASCAR driver appearances and free Deardorff Sweet Corn for the first 500 guests, provided by the Iowa Corn Promotion Board and Hy-Vee.
“Our inaugural Fan Fest was an overwhelming success last year, so bringing it back to the heart of Des Moines was an easy decision,” said Eric Peterson, President of Iowa Speedway. “NASCAR’s Iowa Fan Fest is a celebration of everything that makes Iowa special — corn, great fans, and a love for racing. It will provide the perfect jumpstart to an incredible weekend of racing at the Fastest Short Track on the Planet.”
Other Fan Fest highlights will include:
- Show Cars by Chevrolet
- Iowa Corn Trailer
- Live DJ spinning music all evening
- Interactive kids activities
- Local food vendors
The event, made possible by support of event partners Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Hy-Vee, Chevrolet, Iowa Lottery, and JR & Co., will connect racing fans with the community as excitement builds for the upcoming NASCAR race weekend at Iowa Speedway.
That weekend begins on Friday, August 7, with the ARCA Menards Series’ JR & Co. 150 and continues on Saturday, August 8, with the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series’ Hy-Vee Perks 250. And then on Sunday, August 9, the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series compete in the Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol, which will be preceded by a Busch Light Summer Music Series performance by country music superstar Dierks Bentley.
Only a limited number of tickets remain for the Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol, so fans are encouraged to secure their seats now at www.iowaspeedway.com while supplies last.
