NASCAR Cup Series teams will run a new right-side Goodyear Racing Eagle alongside a familiar left-side tire in this weekend’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The new tire was validated by Ross Chastain (Chevrolet), Ryan Preece (Ford) and John Hunter Nemechek (Toyota) in an early June test at ‘The Brickyard’. The new right-side tire features an updated construction with a new tread compound, and will pair with the left-side tire that most recently ran at Chicagoland Speedway.
NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series teams will run the same setup as at Pocono Raceway. As is customary at tracks one-mile and longer, they will use inner liners.
“Indianapolis is clearly a unique track,” said Rick Heinrich, Goodyear NASCAR product manager. “We see teams running aggressive setups here to account for the flat corners. Our new right-side tire for the Cup Series has been developed with this in mind, and our Pocono setup for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series performed as expected on a track with similarly flat corners.”
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is in action Friday night at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, where they will run the short track setup that raced at North Wilkesboro Speedway last weekend.
Goodyear Racing Eagles are also in action this weekend in the NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways and in the British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton Circuit.
