Colin Braun returns to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Aug. 22 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, driving Kaulig Racing’s No. 25 Ram 1500 for his third start of the season in Ram’s Free Agent Driver Program.
He launched his stint with the program by securing a ninth-place finish at St. Petersburg in February and followed that effort with a 10th-place run at Lime Rock Park on July 11.
“Every chance to climb into the No. 25 Ram 1500 gives us another shot to build on what we’ve established this season,” Braun said. “We’ve shown strong pace on road courses, and now we have a chance to show what we can do on an oval, and I am excited. Heading to New Hampshire for my third start with this crew gives us great momentum! I appreciate the trust RAM, Kaulig, Chris (Rice), and Ty (Norris) have put in me. Seeing the work this group has put in over the season motivates me to dig deep!”
The 37-year-old native of Ovalo, Texas, launched his professional career with immediate endurance success, scoring a class podium at Le Mans in 2006 at just 17 years old. He transitioned to stock cars in 2007 under a Roush Fenway Racing development contract, securing Truck Series Rookie of the Year honors, multiple pole positions — including a standout performance at Daytona — and a breakthrough victory at Michigan International Speedway in 2009. Following a stint in the Xfinity Series, he returned to sports car competition, establishing himself as one of IMSA’s premier stars.
Braun brings an elite racing resume to the oval: three WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titles (2014, 2015, 2022), more than two dozen overall and class victories, four Rolex 24 victories — highlighted by an overall GTP class win in 2023 — along with Asian Le Mans Series honors and major victories at both Le Mans and Spa.
During his debut start in the No. 25 at St. Petersburg, Braun started 16th and methodically drove through the field, breaking into the top 10 with 15 laps remaining. That effort marked his 24th career top-10 finish in the Truck Series. He followed that performance by leading the entire Ram contingent in Connecticut. A qualifying mechanical issue forced him to start last in the 33-truck field, but Braun aggressively charged forward, climbing to fourth place before he recovered from a late-race spin to capture his second consecutive top-10 finish.
The Free Agent Driver Program marks Ram’s high-profile return to NASCAR competition following a 13-year hiatus. The initiative rotates proven championship veterans, rising prospects and elite free agents into the No. 25 Ram 1500 throughout the season. The lineup already features three-time Cup champion Tony Stewart alongside Jamie McMurray, Ty Dillon, Ryan Newman, Connor Daly, Corey LaJoie, Travis Pastrana, Parker Kligerman, Clint Bowyer, A.J. Allmendinger and Carson Ferguson. Tonight, Elliott Sadler races the No. 25 at Richmond Raceway.
Entrepreneur Matt Kaulig founded Kaulig Racing in 2016 as a part-time Xfinity Series program. The organization rapidly expanded, earning its first of 27 Xfinity victories in 2018 before making the leap to the Cup Series in 2020 and collecting two premier-series road course wins with Allmendinger.
For 2026, Kaulig joined forces with Ram to field a five-truck effort. The program features full-time entries for Corey LaJoie (No. 10), Brenden Queen (No. 12), “Mini” Tyrrell (No. 14) and Justin Haley (No. 16), alongside the rotating No. 25 Free Agent machine.
