Dover Motor Speedway issued a statement on Thursday evening after reports of a tornado hitting land near the track earlier in the day. The “Monster Mile” appears to have no major damage on first glance.
“At this time, there appears to be no major damage at Dover Motor Speedway following reports of a nearby tornado,” track representatives said in a statement. “We’re hopeful that everyone in our community is safe and that no one was injured. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and plan to conduct a more thorough survey of the facility in the coming days.”
There was significant damage throughout the region, however, primarily south of the race track.
