Billy Ray Cyrus to perform pre-race concert for Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway

Phoenix Raceway is turning up the volume for NASCAR’s return to the Valley as two-time GRAMMY® Award winner and global entertainer Billy Ray Cyrus, along with special guest DELTONA, will perform the pre-race concert ahead of the NASCAR Cup Series’ Freeway Insurance 500 on Sunday, October 18.

Cyrus will take the stage before the green flag drops on the pivotal NASCAR Cup Series Chase race, adding a legendary concert performance to a weekend already packed with championship-caliber racing and entertainment. The performance will encompass all of Cyrus’ hits as well as “Party’s In The Back,” the most recent release from the music icon and DELTONA.

“Billy Ray’s music has connected with generations of fans, and having him perform before the Freeway Insurance 500 gives our fans another unforgettable experience as we celebrate one of the biggest weekends on the NASCAR calendar,” said Phoenix Raceway President Latasha Causey. “We can’t wait to hear the crowd singing along before the engines fire and the Chase battle begins.”

This year, Cyrus celebrated the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana on Disney+ alongside his daughter, Miley, and released his critically acclaimed album, THE HILL, his first studio album in 14 years. Cyrus’ career has spanned music, movies, television, theater and more. He first exploded onto the music scene in 1992 when his debut album, Some Gave All, debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and remained there for a record-breaking 17 weeks. The album’s lead single, “Achy Breaky Heart,” became a multi-platinum phenomenon and established Cyrus as a global country music star.

He followed with hits including “It Could’ve Been Me,” “She’s Not Crying Anymore,” “Some Gave All,” “In the Heart of a Woman,” “Words By Heart” and “Somebody New.”

Cyrus has continued to build an extraordinary career across genres. His accolades include GRAMMY® Awards, Billboard Music Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Country Music Association Awards, American Music Awards and Canadian Juno Awards. He also holds the worldwide record for the longest-running No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 as an artist and songwriter for “Old Town Road” with Lil Nas X, the RIAA® 14x Diamond-certified global hit.

Beyond his entertainment career, Cyrus is a passionate philanthropist who dedicates time and talent to giving back to U.S. service members, veterans and first responders.

His concert is part of an action-packed Sunday at Phoenix Raceway as the NASCAR Cup Series takes center stage for the Freeway Insurance 500. The race is scheduled for noon MST and serves as a pivotal stop in NASCAR’s Chase, with drivers battling for championship positioning at one of the sport’s most important venues.

Fans looking to take their race-day experience to another level can purchase access to the Desert Diamond Casino Infield Experience on Sunday, October 18. In addition to getting closer to the on-track action, Infield Experience guests have the best access to the concert stage, can sign the start/finish line and walk inside the NASCAR Cup Series garages where the best drivers and teams in the world prepare for all of the challenges Phoenix Raceway provides.

The Freeway Insurance 500 is the centerpiece of Phoenix Raceway’s October 16-18 NASCAR Chase weekend, which also features the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series on Friday, Oct. 16, and a NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and ARCA Menards Series West doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 17.
