Sam Hunt Racing (SHR) announces today that the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (NOAPS) driver, Blaine Perkins, will join the organization beginning in 2027. Perkins will move to SHR to take the wheel of the No. 24 GR Supra, working alongside crew chief Brian Gainey.
“We’re extremely excited to have Blaine join the SHR family and continue his development with us into the future,” said Sam Hunt, Owner and President of Sam Hunt Racing. “He’s a great person, has experience in these cars, and is extremely motivated to take the next step as a driver. We are excited to embed him into our culture and give him the tools and resources he needs to be successful both on and off the track.”
Blaine Perkins is a journeyman driver who made his start as a young eight-year-old in his home state of California. After racking up track championships at both Irwindale Speedway and Kern County Raceway, Perkins continued to move up the ranks, including a California state championship in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series. Next thing you know, Perkins had a breakout 2020 season in the ARCA West where he earned three victories.
Perkins has been an active driver on NASCAR’s national level since he made his NOAPS debut in 2021. The 26-year-old has collected six top-10 finishes throughout his series career.
“I’m proud to announce that I will be joining Sam Hunt Racing in a multi-year deal starting in 2027. It’s a dream come true to have the opportunity to race for SHR and Toyota,” said Blaine Perkins. “I can’t thank my sponsors and supporters enough for helping make a longtime dream of mine into my new reality.”
Sam Hunt Racing has been competing in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series since its debut in the 2019 season finale. 2026 marked the first time the organization had two full-time drivers, a testament to Sam Hunt’s intentional progression of growth within the organization. Throughout eight years of competition and 288 overall race entries, SHR has gathered 13 top-five and 43 top-10 finishes with 73 laps led.
Information regarding the organization’s team and driver partnerships will be announced at a later time.
