Jimmy Elledge takes over as interim crew chief after Nick Harrison left to take a NNS crew chief job with Richard Childress Racing (10-8-2013). Larson will make his Sprint Cup Series debut at Charlotte in Oct and also run at Phoenix in Nov.(10-5-2013). Allgaier will not run at Charlotte, but adds Kansas and Martinsville (10-4-2013). Michael McDowell will run the car at New Hampshire (9-19-2013). Truex to run the car at Bristol in Aug; Richmond and Dover in Sept (9-18-2013). Look for Larson to run a couple races in this car to prepare for the 2014 season in the #42(8-30-2013). Harry Scott, Jr. takes over ownership of the team as of Sept 10th. Justin Allgaier will drive the 1st race at Chicago and will run at Charlotte and Talladega. Brandt will be the primary sponsor for the three races Allgaier will run. Scott has committed to keeping the Phoenix Racing team intact for the remainder of the 2013 season. Allgaier’s crew chief will be Nick Harrison. GM Steve Barkdoll, will continue in his role after Scott takes over. The team will continue its relationships and alliances with Chevrolet, Hendrick Motorsports and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing (8-28-2013). Team has been sold to an unannounced owner [probably Harry Scott] with a new driver and sponsor, likely Justin Allgaier and Brandt, starting at Chicago. Allmendinger will likely drive most of the remaining races thru Richmond with Owen Kelly in the car at Watkins Glen (7-20-2013). Owner James Finch plans to sell the team or close it down at the end of July 2013. Supposedly there are a couple of suitors: Harry Scott, who is co-owner of Turner Scott Motorsports in the NNS series and 21984 & 1996 Cup Champ Terry Labonte is also looking into buying the team. If no deal is in place by mid-July, Finch says he will close it down. Supposedly if sold to Scott, Justin Allgaier could make his Cup debut at Chicago in the #51 (7-9-2013). Jacques Villeneuve will run the car at Sonoma (6-17-2013). Allmendinger is scheduled to run four races early in the season: Phoenix, Bristol, Auto Club and Martinsville, then the team will evaluate from there (1-19-2013). Austin Dillon will run the car at Las Vegas with TAG Heuer as the sponsor and could run a few more races in 2013 (1-16-2013). Guy Roofing will be the primary sponsor for the Daytona 500 (1-9-2012). Regan Smith will run the Daytona 500 while A.J. Allmendinger will run the 2nd race at Phoenix with Smith and Allmendinger to share the ride most of the season. Team will continue to use Hendrick engines. Some rumors have Austin Dillon in the car for a few races, but nothing announced (1-8-2013). No driver named for the final four races of the season (10-14-2013). Martin took over the #14 ride starting at Bristol in August, subbing for injured Tony Stewart. Vickers will run the 12 of the final 13 races with Waltrip in at Talladega in Oct (8-22-2013). Martin will at Martinsville in the #11 Toyota for injured Denny Hamlin (Martin wasn’t scheduled to drive the #55 there) and Vickers will drive the #11 at Texas, Kansas, Richmond & Talladega (3-29-2013). Martin to run 24 races in 2013 plus Shootout and All-Star races, Waltrip to run at Daytona in July and both Talladega races, Vickers to run 9 races: Bristol(2), Martinsville(2), Sonoma(2), Kentucky, New Hampshire(2) and Watkins Glen in 2013 and run ay JGR for the NNS Championship, so won’t get Sprint Cup Series drivers points (10-26-2012). Martin is signed thru 2013, with Waltrip and another driver running the rest. Brian Vickers ran 8 races in the car and is a candidate for any open full-time job or MWR could start a 4th team for Vickers if sponsorship can be found. Expect Waltrip to run around five races again in 2013. MWR is signed with Toyota thru at least 2014.(7-18-2012).

Smith said on Sept 22nd that he was told he will not return to the #78 in 2013 and is looking (9-22-2012). Mike Ford named director of competition and racing operations (12-5-2012). Supposedly will switch from #93 or #83 to #23 in 2012, Reutimann could end up in one foe BK Racing rides (11-9-2012). Sauter to make his 2nd start for the team at NHMS, probably as a start-and-park (9-16-2013). The team skipped the road courses. After finishing 9th in the Daytona 500, the team skipped Phoenix as the team was behind in building the new Gen-6 cars (2-27-2013). McDowell and Nead return for the 2013 season. K-Love will be the sponsor for the 2013 Daytona 500. Plans to run the full season (1-15-2013). The team start-and-parked for most of the season after merging with Whitney Motorsports and forming Phil Parsons Racing and changing to Ford. Was the old HP Racing LLC #66 team in 2011

TBR takes over the use of the #7 in 2013, no word what car number Gordon will use if he runs any Cup races in 2013 (1-17-2013). Spokesperson Alison McCabe said she doesn’t think Gordon will participate in NASCAR due to his involvement in his new racing project, Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks series (12-19-2012). After running Sonoma in June 2012, Gordon said it could be his last 2012 start and hopes to at least run the Daytona 500 in 2013. If no sponsorship comes aboard, Gordon many not run in 2013 or just pick and choose a few races like Daytona, Sonoma and/or Watkins Glen (7-19-2012)

Kvapil ran it at Darlington in May as David Reutimann was in the #93 car. Reutimann attempted to make the Coca Cola 600 in the #73 car but failed to make the race but will run the #73 in the seven races he is not in the #10 car when Danica Patrick is in the #10 Chevy the rest of the season (5-22-2012).

Cope will not run with the team, no word on plans for the 2013 Cup season (2-8-2013). Supposedly Cope will bring a sponsor to the team and run 8-10 races for the team, no word if the team plans to run all the races in 2013 (12-10-2012). The team attempted a few races and ran with Speed and Bires. Andrews was named to drive in 12 races, but has so far attempted only one. Andrews father was only the crew chief when his son, Tim, was the driver (7-19-2012). Go Green Racing planned to make its first start at Bristol in March and run 10-12 races in 2012. Tim Andrews was slated as the driver with his father, Paul Andrews, serving as the crew chief. Go Green Racing has purchased their NSCS cars from Roush Fenway Racing and will run the Roush/Yates FR9 motor at all 2012 Cup races.(1-20-2012)

If this team were to happen, it won’t be in a Dodge, who leaves NASCAR after the 2012 season (8-7-2012). However, it is now “highly unlikely” that Andretti Autosport will expand to NASCAR and field a Sprint Cup team in 2013, Michael Andretti, the owner of the IndyCar Series team, told the Indianapolis Star (7-22-2012). Michael Andretti, owner of Andretti Autosport currently in IndyCar, could start a two car team in 2013 running Dodge. Drivers rumored include Kurt Busch [with the past champions provisional] and Ryan Newman. But Newman is more likely to remain with Stewart Haas Racing in the #39 Chevy. Dodge is also rumored to be buying Penske Racing’s Dodge engine program (7-7-2012)
