Chase Elliott rallies from crash to win Playoff elimination race at Charlotte Road Course: Moments after taking the checkered flag in Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, race winner Chase Elliott revisited the site of his biggest mistake.Elliott drove his No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 up to the tire barrier in Turn 1 of the 2.32-mile, 17-turn course and began a burnout that bordered on the sarcastic.Early in the final stage of the 109-lap event, after a restart on Lap 65, Elliott locked up his brakes, plowed straight into the tire barrier, taking out the “Tums” logo in the corner known as Heartburn Turn. After pitting to address the damage, Elliott fell to 37th in the running and spent the rest of the race working his way forward.[More](9-29-2019)

#9-Chase Elliott won the Bank of America Roval 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The win is his 3rd win of 2019, 1st win at Charlotte and 6th career win.
#88-Bowman finished 2nd followed by #4-Harvick, #14-Bowyer, #2-Keselowski, pole winner #24-Byron, #19-Truex, Jr., #12-Blaney, #48-Johnson, and #22-Logano.
#9-Elliott lead a race high 35 laps on the day. He was leading on a restart with 45 laps to go when he ran straight into the wall in turn one, bringing out a caution. He was able to pit and work his way back through the field to take the lead with 5 laps remaining.
Stage 1 was won by #42-Larson. Stage 2 was won by #9-Elliott.
#20-Jones was involved in an accident late in stage 1. He could not continue and finished 40th.
#18-Busch had a flat tire with just over 40 laps remaining. He had to pit under green and lost a lap. Later in the race he hit debris on track and went to the garage, finishing 37th.
#6-Newman was involved in several incidents on the day but was still in position to advance in the playoffs when he missed the chicane on the backstretch and fell back to a 17th place finish.
The race concludes the Round of 16 in the Playoffs. Drivers that advanced to the round of 12: #18-Busch, #78-Truex, Jr., #11-Hamlin, #22-Logano, #4-Harvick, #2-Keselowski, #9-Elliott, #42-Larson, #88-Bowman, #12-Blaney, #24-Byron, and #14-Bowyer.
Drivers that were eliminated from the Playoffs: #6-Newman, #10-Almirola, #1-Busch, and #20-Jones.
There were 13 lead changes among 9 drivers and 10 cautions for 23 yellow flag laps.

William Byron sweeps Charlotte poles with strong run at Roval: William Byron has the knack at his home track—even if the two configurations at Charlotte Motor Speedway are vastly different. A Charlotte native, Byron won the pole for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte in May on the traditional 1.5-mile oval. On Friday, Byron toured Charlotte’s Roval—a 2.32-mile, 17-turn road course—in 80.932 seconds (103.198 mph) to earn the top starting spot for Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400. In winning his fifth Busch Pole Award of the season and the fifth of his career, Byron edged Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman (103.078 mph) by .094 seconds. Byron and Bowman are 12th and 13th, respectively, in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series standings, with the Playoff field to be cut to the top 12 drivers after Sunday’s first-round elimination race.[More](9-27-2019)

Inspection at Charlotte: NASCAR has a “traditional” weekend schedule at Charlotte with qualifying on Friday and two practice Saturday.  Therefore, there will be a pre-qualifying inspection on Friday as well as pre-race inspection on Sunday.
