AJ Allmendinger marches back from late penalty to win at Mid-Ohio: With a remarkable run from the back of the field in the final stage at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, AJ Allmendinger charged to an overtime victory in Saturday’s B&L Transport 170 and tied Marcos Ambrose for the most NASCAR Xfinity Series road course wins all-time.(Read more)(6-5-2021)

Despite getting a pit road penalty as the final stage of the BL Transport 170 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was set to get underway, #16-AJ Allmendinger charged through the field and won his second race of the season. Allmendinger made a three-wide bonsai move underneath #54-Ty Gibbs and #22-Austin Cindric to get the lead on a restart with four laps to go and didn’t look back.
#11-Justin Haley finished second, making it a Kaulig Racing Racing sweep of the front two positions. #54-Ty Gibbs finished third (sixth top-five finish in seven starts this season), #19-Brandon Jones and #23-Andy Lally rounded out the top five. #68-Brandon Brown, #1-Michael Annett, #31-Josh Berry, #39-Ryan Sieg and #92-Josh Berry made up the rest of the top 10.
Allmendinger and Haley won the two stages, both recording their third stage win(s) of the season.
There were seven lead changes among five drivers and seven cautions for 23 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was 66.212 mph.

#22-Austin Cindric will start from the pole in Saturday’s BL Transport 170 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. It will be the fifth time this season (13 races) that Cindric has led the field to the green flag.
Charlotte winner #54-Ty Gibbs will start alongside in second, with #20-Harrison Burton, #10-Jeb Burton and #7-Justin Allgaier rounding out the top five. #68-Brandon Brown, #19-Brandon Jones, #51-Jeremy Clements, #98-Riley Herbst and #11-Justin Haley make up the rest of the top 10.
The lineup was set by the qualifying metric, based on race finish, points position, and fastest race lap. Because there were 42 entries, #13-David Starr and #77-Dillon Bassett didn’t make the race based on points.
