In the National Speed Sport News(NSSN), Editor and former announcer great, Chris Economaki says in his Notebook: “We suspect NASCAR is scratching its head over the performance of the new Hendrick-built chassis that Jeff Gordon is now using. Though the NASCAR rule book does not deal in any length about a car’s underside other than stipulating right height, word from the garages is that the underside design is such that ground effects is achieved”(from the 6-25-97 issue – 7-5-97)
