I have a buddy who works on WC circuit, (in sales) and he is tight with some of the Bud #25 guys. He was told that Rick Hendrick is concerned about money problems, (and a federal prison term) and is desperately trying to align himself to remain as a WC car owner. He has offered and Jeff Gordon has accepted to become a co-owner of the #24. Ray Evernham will become co-owner of the #25. He will also move over to crew chief the car. The same offer was made to Terry but the “Ice Man” refused. Word is, Labonte may entertain other offers to drive if Hendrick goes down. This had created waves between Hendrick and Labonte.(7-5-97)
