Darrell Waltrip wants to get one thing straight. Just because he is celebrating his 25th year in stock car racing this season, the 50-year-old Winston Cup driver does not want anyone to think his silver anniversary is also his sayonara. Quite the contrary. “This is not a farewell,” said Waltrip. “This is a silver anniversary celebration of 25 years in racing. I never was going to quit or anything, but I didn’t know how much I was going to race next year. I knew I was going to race some and talked about running a limited schedule, but with the way things are going, it looks like I’m going to run all the races next year.” (News-Journal wire services via Nascar fans)(7-14-97)
