“Roush Racing is undergoing a corporate makeover that may include moving the NASCAR race shops, currently in Liberty, to the Charlotte area. Geoffrey Smith, who became president of Roush Racing on Aug. 1, said he is moving himself and the Roush Racing corporate headquarters from Livonia, Mich., to the Charlotte/Mooresville area. The engine shop will remain in Livonia. Roush Racing has also acquired an option on a 100-acre parcel of land in Concord that may in the future house the company’s three Winston Cup teams. Currently, the teams of Mark Martin and Ted Musgrave are in Liberty, and Jeff Burton’s team is in Mooresville.”( Greensboro News * Record Online) (8-16-97)
