“Just got news from two separate, usually reliable sources that in this case are in direct conflict with each other. One reports David Green will leave the #96 Caterpillar team to replace Steve Park for the rest of this year in the Dale Earnhardt # 1 Pennzoil Winston Cup Monte Carlo and then drive a second team car for Earnhardt in 1999. The second source is certain Rich Bickle will replace Park for as long as necessary without a promise of a ride afterwards, though in todays climate in Winston Cup a second Earnhardt team would seem likely at some point. If I(Tom) had to guess I(Tom) think I’d go with Bickle as he is a proven talent, available and has a hard driving style much like the prospective boss.
