Gene Nead, crew chief for Phil Parsons’ Busch Series team, has been suspended indefinitely by NASCAR. Tim Sullivan, a spokesman for the sanctioning body, said only that Nead was involved in a fight Friday night and was suspended for “activity detrimental to the sport.” The trouble Friday apparently stemmed from a confrontation a week ago during the Busch Series race at Nashville, Tenn. Nead showed up at Darlington Raceway Saturday, but was escorted from the grounds by security personnel.(WRAL)(3-21-98)
