Brad Keselowski free to pursue 2027 options after reaching agreement with RFK Racing

Brad Keselowski confirmed Saturday morning at Martinsville that he has reached an agreement with RFK Racing allowing him to pursue opportunities with other NASCAR teams and manufacturers for 2027. However, he says he does not have a ride secured for next season and that returning to driving is not guaranteed. The agreement was reached approximately one hour before his scheduled press conference.

Keselowski said negotiations to extend his contract with RFK began approximately 11 months ago. He wanted to continue driving while maintaining a significant role in the team’s competition operations for years to come, but the other owners had a different vision. He said the disagreement was a “strong impasse” but emphasized that negotiations were not adversarial. Keselowski originally joined RFK with the expectation that he would finish his driving career there before transitioning into management.

As part of the agreement, he will begin selling his 20% ownership stake in RFK Racing. He confirmed he previously made an unsuccessful offer to purchase the organization. He is now free to pursue opportunities with any Cup Series team or manufacturer, although he cannot take existing RFK sponsors with him. Keselowski said he has several Cup opportunities but is only now able to begin negotiations with teams and partners. An ownership stake would not be a requirement for his next Cup Series deal.

Keselowski also discussed the possibility of returning to the Craftsman Truck Series as a driver and team owner. He said there is a “strong chance with no certainty” that Brad Keselowski Racing could return.

Despite the unknowns, Keselowski made clear that he is not ready to retire and still wants to compete for victories while remaining involved in ownership and management. He acknowledged that securing a competitive opportunity for 2027 this late in the year will be challenging.

“I am confident something is going to work out. I don’t know what that is right now. Nothing comes easy in this sport; nor should it. We’re going to have to grind really hard to get a deal done for next year,” Keselowski said.
