The owners of the Washington-Erving Motorsports team, Joe Washington and Julius Erving were at TMS Saturday to watch their BGN #50 Dr. Pepper Ford team race and to take part in a promotion involving local Boy and Girl Scouts which has a show car program with the Boy Scouts. What it does not have yet is a Winston Cup team. Sponsorship seems to be the made problem. Erving said a couple of deals came close and efforts to find a sponsor continue. The team still wants to get a Winston Cup car on the track by the end of the season. Erving said Rich Bickle, who had signed a letter of intent to drive for the team, still would be considered a candidate for that job despite the fact Bickle has expressed his displeasure with the long delay.(That’s Racin’)(4-5-98)
